Marshall Simonds' involvement with Retrievers dates back to the early 1950's. Both he and his wife, Kate, have been avid field trial campaigners guiding many dogs to championship status. In addition to his involvement with local club activity, he has served as President of the National Retriever Club. He has been active in the judging arena. As an astute attorney he acted as counsel to the Labrador Retriever Club in the successful defense of the six-year litigation challenging the revised standard. He is a "founder" of the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation and has served as a director of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for more than ten years.
