Mrs. Mahlon B. "Audie" Wallace, Jr.

Audie Wallace was one of the long-time retriever breeders in the United States. During the 30's, she and her late husband imported Golden Retrievers from Great Britain. At that time there were only two other Golden breeders in this country. In 1937 they entered their first Retriever Trial and remained active throughout their lives.

Over the years their Audlon Kennel was home to three National Champions: 1945 NFC Black Magic of Audlon, 1951 NFC Ready Always of Marianhill and 1973 NFC AFC Baird's Centerville Sam. In 1966 Audie won the Martin Hogan Memorial trophy which was presented to the person in the Midwest who at all times displayed good sportsmanship and contributed the greatest advancement to any or all Retriever Breeds and Retriever Field Trials.

During her active years she was one of the most widely known and best loved ladies in the sport. Audie is best remembered for her love of life, generosity, and rare sense of humor.
