For over 25 years, from 1955 until the early eighties, Mr. Goppert was very active in the Retriever Field Trial Game. He was very involved with the Big Horn Basin Retriever Club through its entire existence. He was the first Wyoming owner of a Field Trial Champion - FTC and AFTC Boley's Cascade. He judged over 76 licensed all-age stakes and a similar number of minor stakes from Alaska to Texas and California to Maine. He worked at five Amateur National Field Trials and three National Field Trials, one as chairman of the Traffic Committee, and the balance as chairman of the Marshall's Commitee when these trials were held in the Mountain States time zone.
