Bob Wolfe

Bob was involved with Labradors and the retriever sport since 1954. He had trained and handled several labs to field titles and National qualifications. They were AFC Duke of Ashton, AFC Cha Cha Dancer, AFC Super Disco Dancer and FC-AFC Rhumba Dancer.

He served the National Retriever Club as a member of the Field Trial Committee for many years. He was Chairman in 1974, President in 1978 and judged the stake for 1981.

In 1977, Bob became President and Editor-In-Chief of the Retriever Field Trial News and served until 1990. In the mid 90s, his contributions to the sport were recognized when he was elected to the Retriever Field Trial Hall of Fame.

A man of many talents, Bob joined 3M in 1939 as a mechanical engineer after graduation. His career was interrupted by World War II. He served for 5 years, attaining the rank of Lt. Col. For 2 1/2 of those years, he was stationed in China where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.

After the war he returned to 3M, eventually becoming a Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors. In 1981 he retired from 3M and continued to campaign his dogs and enjoy his other interests, including golf and boating.

Bob's congenial nature, wisdom and sportsmanship earned many friends throughout the country and overseas.
